Ingredients:
3 cups quick cooking oats
1-1/2 cups flour
1-1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
1-1/2 cups shortening or butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 tablespoon baking soda
1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
Wash hands, and use them to mix together all of the ingredients in a large bowl. The more you mix, the better the cookies will be. Shape into round balls the size of a walnut and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 15-17 minutes at 350° F.
Variations:
Divide into 4 equal portions, and add one of the following to each portion: 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 6 ounces chocolate chips, 1/2 cup chopped nuts, 1/2 cup coconut or raisins.
